Im honestly surprised people think this place is great. Im no PETA forcing animal justice warrior but I do love animals and believe they should be treated correctly. And thats just what this place doesnt do. Go there your selves and take a look around. Among the distressing things i saw was a green conure who looked stressed as heck, a leopard gecko with a severe eye infection half dead ON THE FLOOR(not in a quarentine room), and a huge rabbit(unsure of the breed) in a tank so small it couldnt even move a foot in each direction. I went there to look at snakes and came out appalled. I understand the fish as they are sold quite quick and the single red belly pirannha in the 3 gallon tank was understandable as they are sold fast, but the other animals it is not. The beardies and snakes are full grown so obviously some have been there for quite a while. I digress though. What makes it worse is that theyre not even admitting to their mistreatement and are calling people who vote them negatively “slanderers”. Pictures of their mistreatement were posted on yelp if you care to see. Please dont support this buisness.
I came to Pet Asylum to purchase a snail for my aquarium and the associate on shift was extremely helpful. The only thing I can say is that although the fish are well cared for and the associates are willing to help, the store itself was in poor physical condition. I can’t speak on the condition of the other pets but I will say that the store smells so so so so soooooo strongly of ammonia. This ammonia smell is produced by animal waste mainly urine. I can’t tell if it was one particular animal or multiple animals causing this odor but I know that it’s probably because of poor ventilation or crowding in a small space. There were cobwebs in some of the empty tanks and water puddles on the floor as well. I think that this store needs a renovation to accommodate the amount of animals that they are caring for. It just seemed like a lot going on in such a small space. Over all the experience I had was not bad.
I've been shopping at Pet Asylum for the entire 18 years we've lived here, and would never dream of going elsewhere. The staff is extremely professional, helpful, friendly and vastly knowledgeable. Just recently they helped turn the life of my senior American Bulldog around by recommending different food. No questions went unanswered! Simply WOW! The store is clean, and every single animal is exceptionally cared for. I having nothing but love for the store and the owners!
To be honest my dogs ears we're so dirty and i paid for bath, ear etc. Come home & ears are not even done... Unexplainable
Went here looking for Rummynose Tetra. A lot of other places did not have these fish but Matt was more than happy to help me out. He placed an order and got them to me THE NEXT DAY!! Not only was the delivery prompt and super fast but these fish look phenomenal and are doing great. Super colorful and looking very healthy. Plan on doing plenty of business in the near future here.
